It was Fif's first No. 1 single on the charts.
On this day in 2003, 50 Cent's "In Da Club" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for nine weeks straight. The single, off Get Rich or Die Tryin', became 50's first No. 1 hit and broke a Billboard record as "most listened-to" song in radio history within a week in March 2003.
"In Da Club" was certified Gold and nominated for Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Song at the 2004 Grammy Awards. The Dr. Dre-produced track was one of seven tracks 50 recorded in less than a week with the esteemed producer.
"As soon as he walked in the studio, he picked up a pen, and we were done in an hour," Dre told Rolling Stone in 2003. "We just made some shit we wanted to hear."
